Loneliness in Death

Cover of Loneliness in Death

“And as you lie dying in the dank darkness, what will you think about in your loneliness”
Fyodor Dostoevsky.
Loneliness in Death
: I saw loneliness, it had a visage of a man
His face was a mixture of darkness, apathetic and vacant,
It looked familiar, It glanced and exposed the appearance it had,
A feeling of void and null came over me
He had an illusion of a smile but carried a deep indifference on his face,
He uttered,
"You know me, I am ubiquitous
I am no stranger to man,
I go with them everywhere they go
I remind them I am present
I remind them in their happiness
When they look for love
When they sit still
When they lie dying in darkness
I remind them in their songs, in their art
In their pursuit of life,
I am their only constant
I thrive around them
I am their curse
I am their punishment
I am present at their deathbed
And when they talk of me I remind them
Of disgrace and shame" I inquired, what do men think of when you're around?
He replied evincing pain on his murky facade,
"They don't, I remind them of the void, the numbness and the pain,
I assure them I am their constant,
I remind them death maybe the only separation from me"
