Perfection in goodness

“And now that you don’t have to be perfect, you can be good”
John Steinbeck.
Perfection in goodness
: You weren’t meant to be perfect
You never were, you never even have to
It only exists in dreams,
A place for it not in Being
Reality knows it not
The math of life abhors it
Even God shy away,
Only literature can be perfect
Only embellished stories can be perfect
Life is cursed not to be, people are blessed not to be,
We were fed a lie and we believed it
We chase it like an infant chases a butterfly
We were told it comes with worship, and we wanted it more,
We were told it would make us divine, and we ate the apple
But it was never there
If it did, it was probably before the beginning,
It even evades God
Because He sacrificed it for creation
Perhaps in exchange He received goodness
Because He is good, so why not try goodness? In reflection of God,
Goodness is attainable
We needed goodness all this while and not perfection,
We set our eyes on perfection
But goodness is higher
It is the closest to heaven.
And now that you know,
Now that you don’t have to be perfect
You can be good.
