Winter perfects summer

“What good is the warmth of summer without the cold of winter to give it sweetness”
John Steinbeck.
Winter perfects summer
: But what if we had infinite summer
What if we had love in perpetuity
What if we had everlasting peace
What if we only knew pleasure
What if our bodies never break down
Would it be life at all?
Would that be heaven?
Would it be hell?
Life matures when harsh winters follows warm summer
What good is verdant life without the urgency and misery death brings
What good is the sweetness of love if you have never known hate
How will peace be savoured if war has never been known
What good is pleasure if pain does not exist
What good is health if you have never known sickness
What good is calmness if you have never known rage
How will you know goodness if you have never seen evil
How will we appreciate satiety if hunger was never an option
What good is the promise of heaven if not for the fear of hell
Hate gives meaning to love
Hell gives meaning to heaven
Goodness is sought because of evil
Winter perfects summer
Death completes life
War gives purpose to peace
Sickness yearns for health
What good is a meaningful life without the misery of death.
